In September 2003, San
Joaquin Regional Rail Commission began operating an
electronic bulletin board system (BBS) for the purpose
of providing the ACE community with opportunities to
interact with fellow passengers. Further, our goal
was to allow passengers the opportunity to find carpools
and call upon other commuters for tips and suggestions.
Bulletin board systems such as this have become
increasingly susceptible to inappropriate language and
behavior, including "spam," and we can no longer monitor
what the public posts, views, and receives. These
days, vulnerability to security threats is of major
concern and the ACE bulletin board system is not immune
to these threats.
Since the inception of the ACE BBS, the updated ACE
website has become more all encompassing. ACE
staff has been diligently working on providing timely
updates so that a website user can find information more
efficiently throughout the site, rather than having to
search through the bulletin board. Any assistance
gained by looking through the pages of the bulletin
board system can still be obtained by navigating through
the ACE website, or emailing
Customer
Service, the
Personal Trip Consultant, or the
ACE Passenger
Advisory Council (PAC).
Throughout the operation of the BBS, ACE staff has
monitored how effective it has been at serving its
primary purposes. As a result, we have determined
that this system no longer effectively serves its
intended purpose and therefore no longer justifies the
cost of its operation.
For those with continued interest in finding commute
partners, please be assured that the San Joaquin Council
of Governments will provide excellent assistance through
their Commute Connection program. Go

Thank you for your understanding.
